Mixed Racer

Multiracial people can struggle with questions of identity and where to fit in. They might feel external pressures to 'pick a side'. Even if you choose a racial group to identify with, however, they might reject you because you lack certain characteristics. 'Mixed Racer' is a short sci-fi film that imagines a 'mixed-race utopia'. It draws upon Arab-futurism and Jonah Attalla's own Egyptian-Swiss heritage. It features a semi-fictional protagonist competing in a cosmic motorsport looking for a sense of belonging. Based on collective stories from the multiracial community, the narrative aims to deconstruct the categorization and eroticization of the mixed-race identity. It shows that there is community and pride in mixed-race experiences.
