Acts of Nature
Johanna Fuld
"An increasingly common means of protecting nature is for humans to take on guardianship rolls for natural entities. This allows them to act on nature’s behalf in the courtroom. Johanna Fuld imagines a case for the rights of the night sky. The lawyer serves as an ambassador for it. Similar to a theatre play, a person’s costume in court underlines their role. The essential aspects of this case are woven into the lawyer's robes. ‘Acts of nature’ highlights the interconnectedness between humans and nature. The robes remind the court and its audience of the values of the case being heard and to consider how the outcome will impact
both humans and nature."
