Hidden In My House

Joanna Maroko

How can the atrocities of the Shoa become a theme for a design project? To pay homage to the memory of family members who never came back from the concentration camps, Joanna travelled to Auschwitz, while recording her every minute feeling. She found out that the imagination no longer works, when confronted with an unbearable history. She also found out that only fragments could restore her talent for making up stories and finding unexpected beauty. Her photos, drawings, paintings and objects show great sensitivity and the artistic talent for translating personal experiences into captivating images.
