Sound Zen Gardens
Jessica Bizzoni
Nowadays we seem to interact more with electronic devices than with our environment. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Dutch town of Veenhuizen, Jessica Bizzoni designed ‘Sound Zen Gardens’ to help us reconnect with the landscape. Metal flowers amplify the pitter patter of raindrops while willow branches pulled around a tree trunk generate a meditative rustle while sculpting concentric circles in the soil – a pattern common in traditional Zen gardens. These acoustic interventions in the surroundings enhance features that already exist. We just need to open our ears.
