Visions of Kataro

Jasper Bloem

The arrival of 3D software has caused a shift in how we design and visualise the future. Due to this digitalisation, the magic and craft of physical scale models and maquettes is getting lost. Miniature worlds are often stuck in conservative themes like trains and war, or are just downsized copies of existing places. Jasper Bloem brings back the magic with a mysterious maquette of the future city of Kataro that is ruled by artificial intelligence. The loss of the human scale becomes obvious when – instead of looking down on this miniature world – you enter it from below. Climb one of the stairs to witness this complex, hyper-digital city from an unusual perspective as you listen to the mind-blowing stories of its inhabitants.
