Matters of Reassembly
The notion of waste is a social construct that has led to modern society’s throwaway culture. The term ‘waste’ enables a subjective degradation of any product, meaning anything can be called waste. 'Matters of Reassembly' disassembles discarded objects to remove the classification of waste and find new contexts for these items. By combining human-made elements with natural materials, Jan-Micha Gamer aims to manufacture new aesthetic value through visual tension. It brings together the artificial and natural world to create functional interior objects, peripheral to industrial production. These pieces provoke the viewer, inviting them to reconsider the way we assign value to materials.
