Diary Dialogues: Echoes Toward Educational Equity
Schools face many challenges today. Among the main problems are staff shortages and lack of space for individual pupil needs. While the former is out of her control, Jacqueline Kärcher believes that the latter can be solved. Her research involved interviews that resulted in a text-based performance that creates the foundations for learning diaries, which teachers can utilise for just 15 minutes a day. Through the diaries, pupils answer questions that let them review their impressions and reflect on their skills and interests. The result is an exchange between teachers and pupils, making equal opportunities in the German education system more accessible. ‘Diary Dialogues’ aims to make schooling democratic, reflecting the belief that education is a right, not a privilege.
