When Green is All There is to Be
Ignacio Subías Albert
## “As Kermit the Frog sings: When green is all there is to be, it could make you wonder why.”
Green has become a synonym for sustainability and the prosperity of nature. As a result, everything around us is turning green: green products, green policy, green future. But it also happens to be one of the most toxic colours to manufacture, and nature is not as stark green as we claim it to be. In his research, Ignacio Subias questions the use of both the pigment and the concept. His video essay, which applies the green screen technique to an accumulation of green objects, is meant to change the viewer’s perception of this colour – from an automatic signifier of goodness, to a deceiving tone that hides a bigger story about society’s relation to nature.
