Uni-Sex
Floriane Misslin
Floriane Misslin has studied unisex fashion campaigns from the past five years to analyse how these represent an ideal of gender equality. ‘Uni-Sex’ asks if such campaigns can encourage social equality of the sexes. Misslin has focused on the body, rather than the clothes: the presentation of the male and female models through postures, attitudes, make-up or even age range. Misslin analyses these in the light of studies on social and cultural gender. The findings have been collected in a graphic publication that can be used as a consulting tool for brands, and a book of essays intended to promote the cultural debate on the issue.
