Ushi
In horse riding, a ‘school horse’ is often the first animal ridden by young people who want to make their equine dreams a reality. ‘Ushi’ is a school horse, who happens to be the eponymous cover star and central protagonist of a new magazine for kids. With Ushi, Florentine Schäfermeier – a self-proclaimed horse girl – wanted to shed light on the stark differences between the real life of horses and the horse girl dream world. The magazine is therefore told from the animal’s own perspective, with images printed in the spectrum of colours that can be seen by a horse’s eye. Featuring interviews with experts, horse vlogs and even a free stable-scented perfume, Ushi subverts a familiar format to act as a gentle educational and reflective tool for young horse enthusiasts.
