Flat Twin 602

Floor Leermakers grew up in a family surrounded by vintage cars – naturally, their fascinating and often hidden shapes offered her unique inspiration as a designer. By transforming and repurposing these shapes, she aimed to create a new language of forms. Inspired by the layered engine cylinder of the Citroën 2CV, ‘Flat Twin 602’ brings the aesthetics of industrially manufactured machinery into the living space in the form of a comfortable armchair. By enlarging the basic shape of the cylinder, its layered design becomes an integrated magazine rack, and the chair is painted in the appealing colours typically found on the car’s body. By redesigning vintage car parts into furniture, Floor merges aesthetics with tradition, history and industry.
