Dolled-up
Ekaterina Galetski
In creating her ‘Dolled-Up’ series of 2D fashion and accessories, Ekaterina Galetski looked to the Dymkovo dolls of her childhood for inspiration. These hand-painted clay figures of people and animals are one of the oldest Russian folk handicrafts, believed to go back some 400 years. Ekaterina uses their unique almost flat silhouette, graphic patterns and vivid colours to make her own prints and styles. And so the static dolls are resurrected in a new, modern aesthetic where creativity, vision and tradition come together.
