Lino Leather

Don Kwaning

"This natural material brings interiors to life."

WHAT Material research exploring how to adapt linoleum so that it can be used in more ways. By changing the mix of components, Don Kwaning creates a viable, plant-based alternative for leather. WHY Made of 100 per cent natural materials such as linseed oil, wood flour and pine resin, linoleum is such a beautiful material, it is a shame to only use it on the floor. WOW Through extensive experimentation, Don developed a softer, more flexible material that shares the look and properties of leather. He used this to make wall tiles that add more atmosphere and texture to a room while also improving the acoustics. This is just one of many possible interior applications. This project was realised in collaboration with Forbo.
