Knot

Desirée Wevers

Desiree Wevers teamed up with a group of Turkish ladies that showed her their Kasnak work: traditional Turkish hand-knotted decorations for textiles. By experimenting with colour and scale, their detailed craftwork has gained a new dimension with a promising marketing potential. The women worked together intensively on various room dividers, which may be the starting point for even more designs, including fences or playground equipment. Knot is not only about the survival of traditional craftsmanship through innovation, but also about the integration and self-sufficiency of an isolated group of immigrants.
