Kibako Fridge System
David Roman Lieshout
Fridge design is mostly about the outside; on the inside each fridge is basically the same. Time for a new focus, says David Roman Lieshout: “Everyone has their own way of organising their fridge, which calls for a more flexible and personal design.” He rethought the traditional interior, leaving out the standard crisper and compartments – “Those are no longer needed with modern cooling techniques and packaging methods.” ‘Kibako’, Japanese for wooden box, is inspired by market crates for fruit and vegetables. With this series of modular boxes and bamboo-and-glass structures you can keep your food cool any way you like.
