Morpheus

Dani van Gerwen

A body morphing jewellery collection allows the wearer to change perspective on their body parts.

‘How can I become a shapeshifter and manipulate my body to be perceived as fluid as I feel?’ Dani van Gerwen found the answer to this research question in a jewellery collection that morphs and warps the body through reflections. Like the god Morpheus, able to change shape, manipulate reality and fill people’s minds with dreams and fantasies, body parts change depending on the perspective from which you look at them. The collection is based on Dani’s experience with gender dysphoria and desire appearance, the tension between wanting to be seen for who you are and wanting to hide. The pieces tell the story physically through movement and performance.
