View on a Landscape: the perspectives of mankind
From the extraction of limestone to the so-called conservation of nature, there has always been a distinct bond between the quarry of Sint Pietersberg and mankind. Researching our connection to this extensive excavation, Dana Savić found plenty of controversy. Many people feel ownership of the quarry, but their viewpoints are miles apart. Dana interviewed several stakeholders on video: from the former director of the cement factory to an archaeologist and members of an activist group. They all have their own perspective, ranging from ‘let’s start digging again’ to ‘leave the place alone’. The videos are shown in a museum-like setting that exhibits all the research and even gives the landscape itself a voice, offering an interesting insight into the complex and impactful relationship between humans and nature.
