The Museum of Lost Museums

Museums are being forced to close their doors permanently, often due to funding cuts. What happens to their collections? This is what Dagmar Erla Jónasdóttir asked herself. ‘The Museum of Lost Museums’ is an effort to preserve access to the valuable cultural and historical collections that would otherwise disappear. Mobile display cases at public events, festivals and presentations provide an authentic, physical museum experience. A digital platform documents these lost museums and their artefacts, giving them an online presence.
