Wind Waait

Daan Brouwer

"It’s an architectural ode to our neglected senses."

WHAT An architectural installation that re-sensitises us to the movement of the wind. WHY In today’s increasingly urbanised environment, we are growing out of touch with nature. Daan Brouwer believes we should develop new relationships with the natural elements through architecture. Because while the primary purpose of a building may be to keep the weather out, most do such an effective job that they inadvertently deprive us of contact with two key requirements for our well-being: nature and change. HOW Daan has built an installation to re-establish the interweaving of nature in human life. The revolving propellers tell us what the strength of the wind is, keeping us in touch with the outside when we are indoors.
