Precious Little Rocks
With ‘Precious Little Rocks’, Céleste Muir takes on the role of a miner by uncovering hidden treasures within the discarded remnants of ceramic ateliers, found in the form of glaze waste. Rather than disposing of it as a hazardous material, how can glaze waste be transformed into an alternative to precious stones for use in the jewellery industry? These overlooked scraps are either left in their natural state or carefully cut and polished, and categorised with names as though they are precious stones. This intermediary craft bridges between the worlds of ceramics and jewellery design, challenging our notions of material value in a way that celebrates the untapped potential of waste products.
