Urbench: Adaptable Street Furniture

This modular street furniture system is designed for dynamic public spaces. Developed through close research with various municipalities, the system accommodates society’s changing needs over time, with an eye for production and maintenance. Each of the three elements, one straight and two curved, can be used as both a stand-alone bench or picnic table, or they can be combined into various configurations that stimulate interaction. On normal days, ‘Urbench’ can function as basic street furniture. But when needed, the municipality or organisers can unlock the elements and create their preferred layout. Afterwards, the elements can simply be rearranged again and locked to meet society's current needs.
