Tigsi Stool
In Moore, the language of the Mossi people of Burkina Faso, 'tigsi' means collecting, assembling or gathering. The Tigsi Stool reinterprets a traditional burkinese low wooden stool, manufactured in bronze in collaboration with Maison Intègre, based in Ouagadougou. The stool's design focusses on surface textures, which were created from material samples found in the foundry of Ouagadougou, and on retaining the shape and referencing the construction of the traditional wood stool. While the traditional object is made of wooden planks, the mould for the Tigsi Stool was created by assembling wax planks before casting. This in-situ process relies solely on regional materials. Camille Mazé has spent several monthis in Burkina Faso since October 2023 and has joined the team of Maison Intègre.
