Aether – Smoke Cure

Camille Brabant

“Smoke Cure offers a new view on smoking and the rituals around it”

What: Here’s an installation that actually values smoking, encouraging the use of medical herbs to benefit from their properties. Why: Smoking is a harmful habit, a ritual practised and despised at the same time. However, according to traditional medicine, shamanism and certain household beliefs, the fumes of some plants are thought to bring precious benefits that are said to be intensified in this state. How: A set of glass objects facilitates the inhalation of smoke from medical plants, combining recreational rituals with healing and well-being. Thus, the project reflects on our medical habits and questions blind trust in prescription drugs, while proposing to turn a harmful daily habit into a positive one.
