Field Notes for Climate Observers
Camilla Marrese
A photographic exploration of different methodologies to observe and represent climate change and uncertainty.
How can one tune into the frequencies through which climate change communicates? As the threat of planetary meltdown looms closer, the ability to sense and understand it diminishes. Despite the wealth of knowledge within climate science, a shared comprehension of its intricacies remains elusive. As a flawed guide to climate observation, this project aims to stimulate sensitivity and agency, while raising awareness of blind spots and impossibilities. It doesn't distinguish between the scientific method and folkloric expression, DIY-made instruments and embodied perception. They are all weird, ritualistic human gestures. The goal is not to teach techniques to master the climate. If at all, it speculates on how to navigate the unknown, with uncertainty as sole deity.
