The Mandarin in the Room

A sculptural object seeks to recreate the unsettling feeling that people experience when dreams slowly fade away upon waking.
Dreams allow Béla Bezold to explore the past, present and future, constructing entire worlds out of what he knows and has experienced. It is a dimension that can’t be accessed while you are awake, because as soon as you wake up, all you are left with is a feeling. This can’t be described through words, and the harder you try the more it disappears. ‘The Mandarin in The Room’ attempts to create this feeling.
