The Dutch Design Awards shortlist includes 24 nominees across eight categories, with the winners due to be announced in September and exhibited during Dutch Design Week in October.
DAE alumni Gabriel Fontana (2018) and Dae Uk Kim (2020) are nominated for the Young Designer award alongside textile designer Marcos Kueh.
Recent winners have included fellow DAE alumni Cream on Chrome (Martina Huyhn and Jonas Althaus), Audrey Large, and Simon Dogger.
Other former DAE students among the nominees for this year’s awards include Kuang Yi-Ku, Simone Post, Christien Meindertsma, design studio Super Local, founded by Luc van Hoekel and Pim van Baarsen, as well as Omlab, a studio that specialises in circular bio-based products, materials and R&D, co-founded by Huub Looze.
The Dutch Design Awards are among the highest-profile, independent awards for designers in the Netherlands.
