Ways to support earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

Design Academy Eindhoven felt heartbroken upon learning of Monday’s devastating earthquake near the Turkish-Syrian border, an event which has taken thousands of lives with many more still unaccounted for.

It is with great sadness and care that we stand with members of our community who have been impacted by this tragedy.

To DAE students who may be in need of support, the Academy encourages you to contact Student Counsellor Olga Pullens and Mona Smits. To book a confidential appointment, email olga.pullens@designacademy.nl or mona.smits@designacademy.nl.

RESOURCES

Here, we have compiled a list of local and national recourses should you want to support those who are in need:

In Eindhoven:

→ Megacenter is collecting clothing, blankets and care products, among other things. You can hand these in at Ruysdaelbaan 43 before 14 February. More information on their Instagram (@megacenterwarenhuis)[https://www.instagram.com/megacenterwarenhuis/].

Mr. Kebab at Donizettilaan 41 and More Veranda at Imstenrade 1 are also collecting clothing items, which they will then send them to affected areas in consultation with the Turkish disaster relief AFAD.

→ Fatih mosque at Willemstraat 67 (very close to the Academy) are looking for winter clothes, tents, beds, power banks, non-perishable food, hygiene products for women, diapers for babies and children etc. Read more here

Nationally:

Donate to Red Cross, who has volunteers on the ground disputing blankets and tents.

Donate through Giro 555, which is the largest national organisation which raises money for humanitarian disasters.

Should you have your own initiative that you would like us to share, please reach out to communications@designacademy.nl.
