Open Call: Planetree Design Award 2022

Starting in 2021, DAE has renewed its collaboration with mental healthcare institution GGzE De Grote Beek in Eindhoven. The collaboration entails an annual award, lectures and excursions from GGzE by experts on mental health, and a yearly seminar on mental health during DDW at The Arena. The main goal of the collaboration is to inspire students from DAE and to offer insights on social innovation to clients and experts of GGzE, as well as sharing and exchanging knowledge on design and mental health

The Planetree Design Award is an open call for all students of Design Academy Eindhoven wishing to submit ideas that pave the way to a more inclusive society. This open call is looking for proposals that add concrete value to the mental health of vulnerable citizens of Brabant. The aim of the Planetree Design Award is to build a bridge between students of DAE and clients of GGzE, to strengthen local collaboration and community.

The ideal proposal should be:

Relevant to the theme of mental health and in line with the price’s mission;
Greatly inspired by GGzE and possibly feasible there;
Inviting to think beyond the usual ways by offering a new perspective on social issues;
Concrete, impactful and innovative;
Participatory and inclusive.

Eligibility

The application will only be accepted when the following condition has been met:

The applicant is studying in bachelor or master at Design Academy Eindhoven during the school year 2021/2022; students of all years can apply.

Application Guidelines

Students are welcome to apply independently or as a collective, taking in consideration that if the project is awarded the whole group is considered as an individual.

Proposals should be written in English and submitted as a single, 2-pages PDF consisting of:

Page 1: Name of applicant(s), bachelor or master program, email address, school year, a motivation explaining why they want to participate to this open call, what they found so inspiring about GGzE and what they will do with the prize.
Pages 2: Proposal, a text of maximum 500 words with accompanied images (3) and/or video (90 sec). The proposal should describe the original vision on the project, the concept and the impact it can have on the clients of GGzE.
