Feel the Floor

Anaïck Lejart

Fascinated by the traditional French craft of stuffed quilting – ‘boutis’ – Anaick Lejart developed a way to industrially produce 3D carpets. With high-frequency welding machines normally used to create outdoor structures or inflatable elements, strong connecting lines are forged into textiles. “Carpet patterns often reflect architectural and graphic trends. I focused on strict geometric patterns and added a third dimension to enhance tactility,” says Anaick. With ‘Surface’ she invites people to interact with what lies on the floor. Take off your shoes and let the carpet massage your feet!
