Covid-19

In 2020, Europe ground to a halt as the Covid-19 pandemic swept across the continent. Like many schools, DAE developed a rapidly-evolving strategy, responding to the continually changing guidance issues by the Dutch Government. These developments were recorded in a series of updates, shared with the DAE community via email and this website.

On these pages, you can find all of these updates and the accompanying Q&As we developed for staff and students. They are no longer active, but serve as a record of the changing Covid-19 regulations and guidelines from 2021 to 2022, DAE’s temporary closures and how we managed the gradual reopening of on-site education and our workshops in 2021.

Our aim was to keep our communications clear and transparent, to keep our students informed and give them as much access to the school’s resources as possible, and to be honest when we didn’t know what was going to happen or exactly how to respond.

Our solutions were not always perfect, but collectively we tried our best to protect each other and those around us, provide emotional support, and develop new ways of working through technologies like Teams that continue to have an impact on how we all work at DAE today.

The last update was sent out in October 2022.
