Professorships
Professorships are 'research groups' within a specific research area led by a professor. Within professorships, attention is paid to studying the research area and sharing knowledge, but they also engage with more informal aspects of research, such as material research, improvisation and experimentation; methods with a history within the Academy, closer to the design practice.
There are currently two active professorships at DAE: ‘Transdisciplinary Design Networks’ led by Dr Ian Biscoe and ‘Social Justice Lab’ led by Naomi Bueno de Mesquita.
Dr Ian Biscoe investigates the current challenge of system-of-system development. He realises tools and methods that facilitate collaboration, regardless of location.
Dr Naomi Bueno de Mesquita explores how designers can work for social justice through concrete projects.
