Climate Anxiety

Saga Rantanen

## “How could one not feel helpless and worried about the future given the current magnitude of destruction?”

This graphic novel explores the fear of future environmental doom in the age of ongoing climate crisis. It also brings together millennials and baby boomers, two generations with conflicting views on the topic. The content of the graphic novel was gathered in workshops where people from both generations answered the same questions about the climate crisis. As urgency for climate action grows, so too does the heated public discussion, which is often flattened into polarised opinions. Millennials are portrayed as anxious radicals whereas boomers are stubborn conservationists unwilling to change. Saga Rantanen juxtaposes the different ideas and opinions from both sides, painting a more nuanced picture of the existential issue we are facing.
