"Radical Postures The death of the alter-ego"
Paul Combel
An audiovisual expression of how queer and trans bodies experience society, and their quest for new forms of identities.
Slowly, the alter-ego morphs into an abstract and undefined mass, leaving only a dress, some fake nails, and a fragile new figure as the ruins of this radical disappearance. The birth and the death of the alter-ego form the centre point of the video and soundscape installation set by Paul Combel as a reflection on queer and trans bodies and their experiences in our society. ‘Radical Postures’ narrates fictional characters in constant destruction and mutation, mirroring something happening inside of them. From it emerges a temporary and aggressive state of vulnerability in which new queer bodies are created. Through this installation, Paul Combel places himself as a narrator in the materialisation of an intangible feeling in the search of a new self and a new and intuitive definition of our bodies.
