Ikealogy
We speculate about ancient civilisations from the artefacts they leave behind. So when we leave Ikea bags behind, one of our own society’s most ubiquitous objects, how would they be interpreted millennia from now? In ‘Ikealogy’, Ninon Oudin offers some possibilities, abstract and absurd, as she transforms this artefact into a crypto holder, a social dishwasher, a frame for video calls and a data cloud launcher. At ikealogy.online the viewer can directly observe the objects using augmented reality. Reshaped and relocated, they reflect themes from today’s world that they were never meant to convey. In this augmented reality, where the bag becomes a physical carrier of human culture, we are compelled to rethink the enduring legacy of our behaviours.
