Barfly

Barfly is a collection of furniture that references bar culture as a breeding ground for community and artistic expression. Initiated from a personal research into the nightlife of Eindhoven and an exploration of the sociological concept of a 'third place', the project presents reproductions of objects and surfaces found in bars as furniture. Third places offer relief from the often stressful demands of the home as a 'first', and the workplace as a 'second place', as Barfly transposes their vibrant atmospheres into these everyday contexts.
