Out of Mind, Out of Sight

"Nestled high in the Swiss Alps lie the Grimsel region's hydropower landscape. After gaining access and conducting sonic research into this electricity-producing location, Nicolas Seiler translated his work into an immersive web application aiming to convey the scale and rhythm of these giant infrastructures. The application guides users on a sonic tour through Eindhoven. By visiting 12 geolocations in the city, users can acoustically experience recordings from turbine halls, dams and other infrastructural elements critical to the electricity we consume.

'Out of Mind, Out of Sight' offers a unique sonic perception of these hidden places. Typically off-limits to the public due to their geographical remoteness and their status as critical infrastructure, this project allows urban audiences to perceive and critically engage with this
energy landscape."
