Going through an illness leaves patients feeling vulnerable and abnormal. What makes gynecological illnesses more challenging is the stigma and shame that surrounds below-the-belt illnesses. ‘Pocketsurvivor’ is a service that pairs gynecological patients with post-patients in order to provide emotional support. Just knowing another person with the same illness can alleviate the sense of loneliness and promote feelings of resilience, courage and hopefulness. The app also features a group-chat function with likeminded patients, an ask-me-anything function with professionals, and a blog-like function where users can share their experiences and path towards better health.
