In-Animate

‘In-Animate’ is an exploration of the life we bestow upon the objects around us. Just as living beings require care, so too do the objects we create and cherish. From oiling hinges and replacing fuses to maintaining the vast networks that power our world, Maxim Duterre noticed that we often fail to appreciate the life we bestow upon objects until they stop working. The light-up flowers in his installation illustrate this dynamic by bringing the delicate nature of organic life to the world of supposedly inanimate objects. This visual metaphor challenges viewers to reconsider the lifecycle of the objects we surround ourselves with, and the thin line between the living and the lifeless.
