"To become more sustainable we have to go back to the basics."

WHAT Furniture for storing stable equipment made from dried horse manure as a sustainable base material. The series is an example of what is possible, aimed at inspiring the industry at large. WHY Manure has been used for housing for centuries, especially in Africa and parts of Asia. Why not use it for furniture? HOW After researching traditional manure construction techniques, Martijn Straatman set about creating a manure-based material with similar properties to chipboard or MDF, but more eco-friendly. It is made up of 80 per cent manure, chalk, water and biodegradable glue that is mixed, pressed into a mould and allowed to dry.
