The Stories that Live in Us
Manon Meyer
# “I am a living archive.”
Reading the war memoirs of her grandfather, Manon Meyer recognised her own behaviour and thoughts. Shocked, but also intrigued, she dug deeper into her family history, and found that she unconsciously carries the heritage of her ancestors inside her. She developed a method of archiving, proposing an organic, non-academic way to research the traces of our past. With the help of family members and personal objects – whether an autobiography or a recipe book – hidden stories may unfold. To explore your past is a way to get closer to your own truths, says Manon. Her quest is documented at storiesliveinus.com, serving as a guide for others to do the same.
