Omniphonium
While human hearing is generally good at locating where a sound is coming from, the audio set-ups we normally use have just one or two sources. What if playing an electronic musical instrument could also be a spatial experience? With ‘Omniphonium’, Leopold Inkapool created a highly intuitive audio controller that allows the user to play with this spatial dimension of sound. Omniphonium fully immerses its users by using multiple concealed speakers, with seven brass rings on the instrument that can be programmed with different audio samples. By turning the touch-sensitive rings individually, those standing in the middle of the space can move the sounds around them as they play.
