My Towers

Léo Prat

A sculpture made of replicated patterns of bronze, wood and steel demonstrates the power of intuition in the creation process.

‘My Towers’ reflects the intuitive journey of Léo Reynier Prat, exploring his fascination for architecture, texture, and materials. It began with the making of a bronze object, heavily textured on four sides. Léo then decided to replicate the patterns and textures in wood and steel. The repeating textures, in a way, form the glue that binds the three shapes and materials together. Geometric patterns in the bronze object are also carved into its wooden counterpart. And holes in the bronze tower are found back in the one made from plasma-cut steel. ‘My Towers’ is the result of a particular design process, not departing from a fully determined shape but evolving from the bottom up. The project defines Léo’s practise as an artist interested in a sculptural approach to functional objects.
