Crikorama

Kyran Knauf

A domestic cricket farming unit gives people the ability to produce high-quality protein from home.

"By 2050, according to estimates compiled by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), we will need to produce 60 percent more food to feed a world population of 9.3 billion. 'Crikorama' provides a sustainable alternative for producing high-quality protein by promoting the domestic farming of crickets on a hyperlocal level. 'Crikorama' provides a habitat for the full lifecycle of crickets, from eggs to larvae to adult crickets. It enables users to easily harvest mature crickets for consumption and repeat the cycle. Industrialised livestock farming involves a general disconnect from food production, and is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation. Instead, 'Crikorama' promotes sustainable practices, empowering individuals to achieve financial autonomy, and reduces the impact of food production on the environment."
