The Design Therapist
Klara Branting Paulsell
Therapy sessions helped design students to articulate the struggles they experience in the relationship with their work.
What if life is just about believing that we are allowed to exist? What if creating is just a means of proving that, by placing something in the world, we don’t have to doubt that there’s room for us? With these questions in mind, Klara Branting Paulsell decided to focus on the relationship between the designer and their work by becoming ‘The Design Therapist’. She spoke to her peers, and they became her 'clients'. The struggles they faced in their personal relationships with their ‘design’ were no different than the struggles anyone faces when they are tasked with making something of themselves. ‘The Design Therapist’ book was made as a montage of those struggles, written for ‘designers’ as much as for anyone else.
