Blue Pottery
Kirsten Boers
Blue pottery is an ancient type of hand-crafted ceramics with a characteristic appearance from Jaipur, India. But the pace of life has changed and so have consumer demands, in India and elsewhere. To improve the product and the craftsmen’s chances on the fast globalising market, Kirsten Boers has reinvented the recipe and the production methods with her new ‘Blue Pottery’. Kirsten’s adaptations allow for firing at higher temperatures and the use of various new techniques to aid reproduction. They can be applied by local craftsmen, who can now sell and ship their stronger, reproducible wares more easily to anywhere in the world.
