In-print
Much of life is determined by standards and conventions imposed by society. But what would happen if, instead of avoiding so-called mistakes, we learned from them and invited them into our creative processes? Juliette Corrieu explored this question within the realm of printing. She took found materials (branches, weeds, leather, bricks) and turned them into tools (letters, stamp, map, mattress) that allow for imprecision, depending on who uses them and how they do it. In contrast to the fast and automated world of printing, her process is slow and meditative. It allows for surprise, for the unplanned, for unexpected discoveries – exactly the qualities that our overregulated world seeks to eliminate.
