Relativistic Surfaces
Julian Jay Roux
Experience is subjective. We take this for granted, but in a world with a growing need for tolerance, we could do with a reminder. Julian Jay Roux’s ‘Relativistic Surfaces’ visualise just how subjective we can be. These modular glass and epoxy tiles feature faceted patterns inside that change colour depending on your position in the room. What you see literally shifts depending on your point of view. In this way Roux creates an ‘existential experience’, confronting us with the individual nature of perception. The visual environment thereby serves to open and inspire dialogue and mutual understanding.
