New E-Democracy

Jorim Theuns

New E-Democracy' responds to two urgent trends. Firstly, the fragmentation of the internet along national, commercial, ideological and sometimes technological boundaries, caused by free-market competition and government interventions. Secondly, the threat of pandemic that continues to loom over our societies, making traditional mechanisms for democratic practice such as public assembly, protest and in-person voting more difficult and dangerous for many members of society.

Jorim Theuns aims to use scientific principles to build bridges along those fault lines. The project proposes an entirely new platform architecture designed to be a digital town hall, facilitating democratic practise and growth, despite possible lockdowns.
