Graduation project
Nearly There
Jonathan Roditi
Throughout history mankind has been fascinated by copying and reproducing things as realistically as possible. The same goes for living beings. We keep portraying our family, friends and loved ones in paintings, sculptures and photographs, striving for the closest resemblance. With the latest technologies, that resemblance can reach the point of perfection. But should the perfect copy be our goal? Jonathan Roditi questions this by creating an almost uncanny replica of a family member using 3D scanning, 3D printing, video and video-projection mapping. Does this digital clone represent the future of portraits?
