Tension Connection
Johan Karrebæk Thun
Since ancient times, humans have been researching wood and its potential as a material. Wood joineries are central to the craft, tracing back to Egyptian artisans around 3000 BC. Johan Thun is captivated by the elegance of joints that require no external adhesives or fasteners. He combines ancient woodworking techniques and the flexible properties of wood to create strong, durable joints by simply utilizing the tension already present in wood. These joints allow for easy assembly, disassembly, and transportation of the construction. Building on millennia of craftsmanship, ‘Tension Connection’ proposes new ways of using wood as a mono-material.
